Nita Strauss, Shredding the Night Away at The Horseshoe Tavern,Toronto

I recently had the privilege of attending Nita Strauss’s “Summer Storm” 2023 North American Tour with Lions at the Gate at Toronto’s Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. This was my first time at this venue, but I had heard great things about it as it has a long history of hosting top-tier acts. The tavern has a cozy atmosphere, with a bar in the front and a small stage in the back.

The list of bands that have graced the stage is indeed impressive, and Nita Strauss was no exception. For those who may not be familiar, Nita is the current guitarist for the legendary Alice Cooper band. One should not overlook her talents, however, as she is a formidable force on the guitar.

This was her fifth show on the tour and her first time in Canada as a solo artist. Naturally, the place was packed. Nita was in great form, and we were all treated to a spellbinding show. However, there were some technical issues that caused her some distress. At certain points, her in-ear monitor wasn’t working, so the crew made multiple attempts to fix it. Despite this, Nita powered through with amazing aplomb and professionalism, delivering an impeccable performance.

Nita played songs from her latest album, “Controlled Chaos”, as well as bringing on guest vocalist Kasey Karlsen to perform songs from her upcoming album, “The Call of The Void,” which is due out July 7th on Summerian Records. The final song of the set saw an exciting cover of Pantera’s classic “Cowboy From Hell”.

At the end of the show, Nita hinted that she may be able to come back later this year.

Overall, it was an incredible experience. Nita gave an incredible performance despite having to deal with multiple technical issues. She was a pro at making it work and keeping the crowd’s spirit high. Her skill as an instrumentalist was on full display all throughout the show, commanding admiration from the audience. Fans of hard rock should definitely keep an eye out for her upcoming album, ‘The Call of The Void,’ as it promises to be an epic and exciting release. If you ever get a chance to see her live, I highly recommend it.
