She was one of the first artists to take on topics like feminism and sexual identity in her music—all that while rocking out onstage with her signature guitar solos. This evening’s gig at El Mocambo was no exception: Lee delivered an epic set full of energy, grit and an air of confidence that comes from decades spent on stage. Here’s how it all went down:

Lee Aaron is a Canadian rock singer and songwriter best known for her platinum album Metal Queen, which was released in 1984. Lee has been nominated for multiple Juno Awards and received the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award in June of 2010. She has won the MuchMusic Video Award, and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

El Mocambo

  1. This makes me feel old. in the late sixties we spent every Friday night at the El Mocambo. It was a friends passing when she was closed down.
