Transmission incoming: STARSET are back to bend reality once again. The Columbus, Ohio sci-fi visionaries have announced their next full-length chapter, SILOS, arriving September 12 via Fearless Records.
The record promises two brand new tracks, six cinematic interludes, and a series of recent singles, all stitched into the kind of sprawling dystopian universe only STARSET could engineer. This isn’t just an album — it’s another piece of the mythos, inviting fans to immerse themselves deeper into their sonic empire.
To mark the news, STARSET have unleashed their cover of Johnny Hates Jazz’s international hit “Shattered Dreams.” Of course, this isn’t a simple rework. In true STARSET fashion, it’s dark, moody, and futuristic — transforming a pop classic into something fit for the crumbling skyline of 2025.
Frontman Dustin Bates explained why the band finally pulled the trigger on this cover:
“For a long time, I’ve had it in my head that I could cover ‘Shattered Dreams’ in a cool way that sounds fresh, heavy, and emotive… However, recently, I’ve started to become convinced that soon, anyone will be able to cover any song in any style with the use of AI… so it started to feel like now-or-never.”
And he’s not kidding — the album will actually feature two covers, alongside originals like “Degenerate”, “Dark Things”, “Brave New World”, and the crushing title track “SILOS.”
STARSET’s empire is already massive, with 5 billion+ streams, a rabid global following, and certified hits like the Platinum “My Demons.” But this new era? It feels heavier, darker, and eerily prophetic.
Prepare to step inside the silo — the transmission arrives September 12.
