The Pretty Reckless have released a bonus version of “About You,” featuring Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. Originally appearing on the band’s fifth studio album, DEAR GOD, the new version features Grohl on drums, guitar and backing vocals, with Smear contributing guitar.
Taylor Momsen said “About You” is one of her favourite songs on the album and wanted to give it something special by bringing in the two musicians.
“‘About You’ is one of my favorite songs on the record, so I wanted to do something special. I called Dave and Pat and asked if they’d lend their magic to it,” Momsen said. “It was an amazing time in the studio making music, there’s nothing better than jamming with friends. I couldn’t be happier with the result.”
The release follows a major year for DEAR GOD, which has helped extend The Pretty Reckless’ record-breaking run on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. “When I Wake Up” became the band’s ninth No. 1 on the chart, setting a record for the most chart-topping singles by a female-led act. The album was produced by Momsen, Ben Phillips and Jonathan Wyman.
The band recently completed the North American leg of its DEAR GOD headlining tour and wrapped up its run supporting AC/DC on the Power Up Tour after nearly three years on the road with the rock legends.
Momsen has also remained active in special performances outside the band. She recently reunited with Soundgarden for a performance at the Seattle Seahawks’ season opener and joined Matt Cameron, Mike McCready, Tom Morello and Robbie Mangano for a Soundgarden tribute at this year’s Power to the People Festival. She also recently appeared at the GRAMMY Museum, offering fans an intimate look at her music and creative process.
The Pretty Reckless are preparing to return to the road for the European and UK leg of the DEAR GOD Tour, with dates scheduled throughout November and December.
