Atreyu Share Intense New Video for “Dead” + Continue 20 + 1 Tour

ATREYU have released a striking new music video for their single “Dead,” marking their first new music in over two years. The track—recorded by Matthew Pauling—pushes the band’s melodic metalcore sound forward while retaining the intensity that has defined their career.

The video, created entirely by Sean Stiegemeier (director, cinematographer, editor, and producer), mirrors the song’s heavy emotional weight.
In a statement, the band explains:

“‘Dead’ lyrically is about a very real and very dark question. It was important for us for the video to match that energy… to reflect the reality and gravity of what ‘Dead’ is about.’”

The lyrics themselves dive into feelings of emotional exhaustion, self-doubt, and the fear of becoming invisible to the people around you. Throughout the track, the narrator questions whether anyone would notice—or care—if they faded into darkness, giving the song its stark emotional core. The video aims to mirror that honesty rather than soften the subject matter.

ATREYU are currently on the road celebrating the 20 + 1 anniversary of their breakthrough 2004 album The Curse—the record that produced staples like “Bleeding Mascara,” “Right Side of the Bed,” and “The Crimson.”
