Swedish progressive metal legends Evergrey have unveiled their powerful new single “Architects of the New Weave”, giving fans another taste of their upcoming fifteenth studio album, Architects Of A New Weave. The album is set for release June 5, 2026 via Napalm Records.
Alongside the single, the band has released a visually striking animated video that brings the album’s dark, intricate artwork to life.
More than three decades into their career, Evergrey continue to prove why they remain one of Gothenburg’s most respected metal acts, blending cinematic melodies, emotional depth, and crushing riffs with their signature melancholic atmosphere.
A New Chapter of Beautiful Darkness
Architects Of A New Weave arrives just days before Evergrey join Iron Maiden as special guests on select dates of the legendary band’s “Run For Your Lives” World Tour.
The album explores themes of transformation, struggle, and renewal while continuing the band’s signature blend of progressive and melodic metal.
If the new single is any indication, fans can expect heavy riffs, big melodies, and the emotional depth Evergrey are known for.
Tom Englund on the New Single
Frontman Tom S. Englund described the title track as an immediate and powerful statement:
“It’s a blistering first single from our 15th studio album. I’m not afraid to claim this is a no-brainer, sing-along friendly, straight-up great metal song. It started with Rikard Zander’s killer keyboard riff, which we turned into a short but massive headbanger.”
Englund also revealed that the keyboard melody was inspired by Dio’s classic “Rainbow in the Dark.”
“When crafting that chorus keyboard line, ‘Rainbow In The Dark’ was blasting in my head — pure epic inspiration.”
The track also features dual guitar solos trading fire in classic old-school metal fashion, giving the song a timeless and energetic feel.
A Hypnotic Animated Video
The newly released animated video showcases the intricate artwork of Mattias Norén, transforming the album’s visual concept into a living world.
Englund explains:
“We went bold: a stunning, immersive introduction to Mattias Norén’s absolute magnum opus of album artwork. Every tiny detail comes alive on screen while the track thunders as the perfect dark soundtrack.”
He added that the band chose the title track because it perfectly captures the explosive energy of this new era of Evergrey.
