Mr M & The All Nighters have released their new single, “Johnny Drama,” a guitar-driven track inspired by the Entourage character played by Kevin Dillon and band leader Ian Gregson’s own 25-year journey through the Vancouver film industry.
Gregson says the character of Johnny Drama resonated with him because of his own experiences working in film and television as a background performer, stunt performer and actor.
“Johnny Drama’s frustrations and joys with the industry certainly reverberate with my own personal experiences.”
Gregson’s film and television credits include The X-Files, Highlander, Supernatural, Arrow, Snowpiercer and Fire Country, along with films including Wrongfully Accused, Godzilla and The Twilight series.
“Johnny Drama” is part of the musical direction behind the upcoming project Flying High, due out November 6. The project draws from Gregson’s wide range of musical influences, incorporating guitar-driven rock alongside electronic textures, atmospheric passages and saxophone.
Mr M & The All Nighters is the ongoing musical project of Lancashire, UK-born Gregson, who moved to Vancouver in 1981. The project combines rock, electronic textures, melodic instrumentals and the saxophone of Manny Albeury.
Gregson’s musical background includes influences ranging from Tangerine Dream, Talk Talk and Thomas Dolby to Thin Lizzy, Ultravox, Portishead, Bryan Ferry, Paul Weller, Ian Dury, Alex Harvey and Nick Cave.
