PREYRS are emerging fast from the Irish underground with a sound that hits like a collision between vulnerability and violence. The band’s new single “Into The Blue” captures that duality perfectly — a surge of empathy and anger wrapped in alt-metal grandeur. The track arrives alongside a haunting lyric video, previewing what’s to come on their debut album The Wounded Healer, due November 14 via Pelagic Records.
“‘Into The Blue’ is empathy, anger, passion, and an observation of senseless loss of life,” says vocalist Amy Montgomery, whose delivery is as unflinching as her words.
Born from the creative partnership between Montgomery and drummer/producer Michael Mormecha, PREYRS fuse raw alternative rock and brooding metal textures with the kind of cinematic weight usually reserved for Nine Inch Nails or Chelsea Wolfe. Add the visceral edge of Nolan Donelly’s guitar work and Ciarán McGreevy’s low-end rumble, and you get a band that thrives on tension — chaos and control constantly colliding.
Montgomery, who first began busking on Belfast streets at 15, has long been known for her unrestrained live energy — a “force of nature” presence that’s earned her nominations for “Best Live Act” and “Best Artist” at the Northern Ireland Music Prize. After a fiery festival debut at Bloodstock Open Air this summer, PREYRS now have their sights set on the continent, joining punk icons New Model Army for a European tour through November and December.
For listeners drawn to the darker, more cathartic side of alternative rock — where emotion bleeds into distortion — The Wounded Healer looks to be one of 2025’s most compelling debuts.
