Social Distortion Return With Born To Kill, First Album in 15 Years

Punk rock veterans Social Distortion are back. The band has announced their eighth studio album, Born To Kill, out May 8, 2026 via Epitaph Records.

Their first new album in 15 years, Born To Kill features 11 songs that carry the signature Social Distortion mix of grit, melody, and reflection. Frontman Mike Ness recorded the album following his recovery from cancer, giving the songs a personal, direct perspective.

The title track references icons like Lou Reed, Iggy and the Stooges, and David Bowie, while still feeling like classic Social Distortion. Songs like “Tonight” and “The Way Things Were” recall the emotional depth of earlier albums.

Co-produced by Ness alongside Dave Sardy, the album also features appearances from Benmont Tench and Lucinda Williams, with artwork created in collaboration with Shepard Fairey.

To support the release, the band will embark on a North American tour this fall. Canadian fans can catch Social Distortion on September 14 at History in Toronto—a stop that’s expected to move quickly, as the band’s last appearance at the venue sold out, highlighting just how strong their following is in the city.
