Tour Kickoff: Saint Asonia Lights Up Maxwell’s in Waterloo

On a stormy Thursday evening, Saint Asonia kicked off their Canadian tour with a powerhouse performance at Maxwell’s Concerts and Events in Waterloo. Despite looming storm warnings, the venue was packed with over 500 die-hard fans, ready to rock out regardless of the weather.

Charlie Edward, a rising force straight out of London, Ontario, kicked things off around 8:30 PM. His electric set, infused with gritty vocals and searing guitar riffs, showcased his upcoming single “Bad Looks Good,” set to release on July 12, alongside hits like “Let Me Go” and “Cigarettes.” The crowd was hooked, hungry for more from this young gun who’s clearly born to rock.

Around 9:30 PM, Saint Asonia hit the stage like a sonic juggernaut. Frontman Adam Gontier, backed by Tavis Stanley on lead guitar, Cale Gontier on bass, and Cody Watkins on drums, unleashed a relentless assault starting with “Above It All. Their setlist was a perfect blend of new hits and fan favorites, including several songs from Gontier’s tenure in Three Days Grace that ignited the crowd.

Adam Gontier’s powerful performance of “Never Too Late” was a poignant moment, as he shared that the song was from the One-X album, released exactly 18 years ago. The audience’s voices filled the venue, creating a unifying and emotional experience. Another highlight was “Let Me Live My Life,” introduced by Gontier with a message about self-empowerment, ending with a rousing cheer from the audience.

The band’s rendition of “Riot” had fans jumping and throwing their horns in the air, and “Wolf” kept the energy high. The crowd’s enthusiasm never waned, with every song met with loud cheers and applause.

The merch table offered a modest selection of tees, a autographed drum head, and used drumsticks. A charming sign revealed that the merch vendor was also the lighting guy, adding a personal touch to the evening. Fans appreciated this dual role, showing their support by lining up for merchandise after the show.

Saint Asonia’s concert at Maxwell’s was a resounding success, setting the tone for the rest of their Ontario tour. The band’s connection with their fans, the high-energy performances, and the genuine, heartfelt moments made for an unforgettable night. As the show ended and fans spilled into the stormy night, the sky was illuminated with sheet lightning—a fitting end to an electrifying evening of rock music.

For those who missed the Waterloo show, the tour continues across Ontario with upcoming dates in Peterborough, Simcoe, St. Catharines, Kingston, Oshawa, and Sarnia. Don’t miss the chance to experience Saint Asonia live—you won’t be disappointed!

Thank you so much, Lucy Sky from Looters for the accreditation.
