Eight-time Grammy Award winner Beck has teamed up with acclaimed Americana star Sierra Ferrell for a breathtaking new version of “Ride Lonesome,” giving one of his most celebrated recent songs an entirely new emotional depth.
Originally praised by Parade as “sublime” and “an instant classic,” the newly released duet pairs Beck’s unmistakable vocals with Ferrell’s haunting, roots-inspired delivery. The collaboration transforms the acoustic track into an intimate conversation between two artists known for constantly pushing musical boundaries.
The release arrives as Beck prepares to embark on his highly anticipated Ride Lonesome Tour, which begins September 16 with a sold-out performance in Vancouver before making its way across North America.
A Perfect Musical Match
Sierra Ferrell has become one of the fastest-rising names in Americana, celebrated for blending folk, bluegrass, country, jazz, and old-time influences into a sound that’s uniquely her own. Her expressive voice complements Beck’s understated performance, creating a version of “Ride Lonesome” that feels both timeless and refreshingly new.
Lyrically, “Ride Lonesome” explores themes of solitude, personal reflection, resilience, and finding peace while traveling life’s uncertain roads. Rather than dwelling on loneliness as something negative, the song embraces independence and the quiet moments that often lead to growth and self-discovery. Ferrell’s addition adds another emotional perspective, making the duet feel even more poignant.
The collaboration continues Beck’s long tradition of working with artists across multiple genres, following recent projects with musicians including Orville Peck, Phoenix, The Black Keys, Gorillaz, Arooj Aftab, and Chemical Brothers.
