“Cut it off, if you just can’t take it Take it out, I’ll just rearrange it It’s not real, shut it down, take a pill But I feel it in my body, I know what comes next”
— “Murder Scene,” EVA UNDER FIRE
Detroit hard rock outfit EVA UNDER FIRE have released their gripping new single “Murder Scene” today (February 6) via Better Noise Music. Sonically fierce and emotionally unfiltered, the track channels anxiety, self-doubt, and inner conflict into a cathartic anthem that hits as hard lyrically as it does musically.
Listening to EVA UNDER FIRE feels like hard rock therapy—transforming scars and demons into songs of resilience and strength. “Murder Scene” continues that mission, confronting the pressure of perception, judgment, and internalized criticism with raw honesty and intensity.
“‘Murder Scene’ explores eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-doubt, and how dreams can become nightmares when the same people who once cheered for you are now criticizing you,” says vocalist and songwriter Amanda Lyberg.
“Anxiety is a liar in my head. It tells me I’m not good enough to be here—so I fight it. Still, it gets louder. The song captures that battle and the feeling of being picked apart, judged, and reduced to an image rather than a person.”
Amanda’s perspective is shaped by her work as a licensed psychotherapist, specializing in trauma, grief, and addiction recovery. Her personal and professional experiences have deeply influenced EVA UNDER FIRE’s music, fostering open dialogue within the band and creating space for vulnerability throughout the writing and recording process.
“Murder Scene” follows the release of “Awakening”, the band’s first new music in two years, which arrived in October and marked a powerful return for the Detroit-based quintet.
EVA UNDER FIRE were named one of SiriusXM’s “Ones to Watch” in 2023 and released their acclaimed debut album LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY in 2022. The band has amassed over 100 million streams and 10 million YouTube views, toured internationally, and appeared at major festivals including Aftershock, Inkcarceration, and Rock Fest. Their music has also been featured in films such as The Retaliators and Sno Babies.
Toronto fans will have a chance to see EVA UNDER FIRE live on August 2 at RBC Amphitheatre.
