Iron Maiden’s most anticipated tour of 2022 – the ‘Legacy of the Beast World Tour’ — touched down at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario on October 12th 2022 after years of being shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dutch symphonic metal group Within Temptation served as direct support, whetting the appetite of the many heavy metal fans in attendance.
Kicking off the show with ‘Senjutsu’, Iron Maiden took the stage with their signature ferocity. Every song was given its own visual backdrop, with swordplay, inflatable hell beasts, and their mascot, Eddie, (also known as Eddie the Head) Iconic tracks such as ‘The Number of the Beast,’ featured flaming gargoyles, smoke, and hellish lights, while Bruce Dickinson’s voice filled the arena and beyond. Dickinson himself showed off a variety of costumes throughout the show.
The show crescendoed with the powerful ‘Iron Maiden’ and ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’ as the band’s famed mascot, Eddie, made an appearance in full samurai gear, brandishing a sword. The final encore of “Aces High” was a powerful spectacle with a life-sized inflatable Spitfire fighter plane “flying”over the stage.
The Legacy of the Beast World Tour show was pure metal dominance from start to finish, with Iron Maiden proving once again that they have earned their place as one of the top bands in metal. As the night came to a close, Bruce Dickinson’s message to his fans reminded everyone that life is too short to not take days for granted. “Thank you, what an amazing night. Have a safe journey home and remember you may only have one fucking life. Live every fucking day of it my friends.”
