Motörhead Exhibition Celebrating Lemmy Opens October 2nd at the Punk Rock Museum

The legacy of Motörhead and the unmistakable presence of Lemmy Kilmister are coming to life once again as the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas prepares to open a new exhibition dedicated to the legendary band and its iconic frontman.

The Motörhead exhibition officially opens Friday, October 2nd, 2026, offering fans a chance to get up close with personal items from Lemmy’s collection and experience a piece of the equipment that helped shape Motörhead’s legendary sound.

Motörhead was never particularly interested in playing by the rules. With Lemmy at the helm, the band carved out its own territory somewhere between heavy metal, rock ‘n’ roll and punk, delivering music that was loud, fast and completely uncompromising.

While Motörhead became one of the defining forces in heavy metal, Lemmy’s connection to punk ran deep. His time playing bass with The Damned and his place within the British punk scene helped establish a connection between Motörhead and punk that would continue to influence generations of bands.

That influence can still be heard in groups including Pennywise, Rancid and Lagwagon, among countless others.

And then there was the sound.

Lemmy’s Rickenbacker bass, pushed through Marshall stacks, became a weapon in its own right. Motörhead’s volume and intensity became legendary, with generations of fans describing the band as one of the loudest acts they ever witnessed.

The new exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to see some of the history behind that sound, including photographs and handwritten lyrics from Lemmy’s personal collection.

But the real attraction may be something fans won’t simply be able to look at.

Museum guests will have the opportunity to play Lemmy’s bass through the actual stack he used. Rather than standing behind a display case, visitors can pick up the bass, plug in and experience the equipment that helped create Motörhead’s unmistakable sound.

It’s about as close as you can get to physically connecting with a piece of Motörhead history.

The exhibition will also feature Motörhead albums available through Vinyl Threat, the museum’s record store, along with exclusive Motörhead merchandise in the gift shop.

The opening will be celebrated with a special evening at Three Star Punk Bar, featuring Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records behind the DJ booth. It’s an appropriate soundtrack for an exhibition celebrating one of the most influential and uncompromising bands in rock history.
