Progressive art-rock veterans The Pineapple Thief have announced their new studio album Far and Wide, set for release October 9, 2026, through InsideOutMusic. The band has also unveiled the album’s hard-hitting first single, “New World Order,” accompanied by a striking new video from longtime collaborator George Laycock of Black Tide Productions.
“New World Order” arrives as the first taste of an album that finds The Pineapple Thief embracing their identity as a rock band more than ever, while retaining the progressive instincts and atmospheric depth that have defined their music for decades.
The album follows 2024’s It Leads To This and marks another chapter in the evolution of a lineup that has spent the past decade developing its chemistry on the road, with drummer Gavin Harrison having joined the band ten years ago.
Frontman and founder Bruce Soord says the band deliberately imposed limitations during the writing and recording process, choosing to focus on what a five-piece rock band could achieve rather than filling arrangements with layers simply because they could.
“We realised, for instance, that you don’t need more than two guitar parts at any one time,” Soord explains.
That stripped-back approach helped the band focus on the impact of the songs themselves, while Harrison says the live environment also influenced how some of the material was arranged.
“You do start to imagine what a song would look like on a stage, and sometimes that does influence the arrangement,” Harrison says.
Far and Wide explores a world marked by social turmoil, adversity, personal loss and the consequences those experiences leave behind. The album continues some of the themes established on It Leads To This, which examined what the next generation could inherit from the world around them.
The new record will be available in several formats, including a limited 2CD and Blu-ray artbook edition featuring the bonus track “Daylight,” a second disc of instrumental versions and a Blu-ray containing Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD 5.1 Surround Sound and 24/48 stereo mixes.
A Special Edition CD Digipak, Gatefold LP in multiple colour variants and digital editions will also be available, including stereo and Dolby Atmos versions.
The album artwork features an abstract sculpture by the late Michael Schoenholtz, the father of Gavin Harrison’s longtime partner Hannah.
