Reviewing the evening
The show got off to a slow start, with John and his bassist playing some atmospheric sounds while they were setting up. The wait was worth it though, as soon as John started playing the opening song it was clear that this was going to be an amazing show. He played songs from his solo albums as well as some covers of tunes by Motorhead and Metallica.
How did he do it?
John 5 has been a guitarist for heavy metal bands like Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and The Creatures. He is touring the world with his solo tour and stopped in Toronto this week at Lee’s Palace. John 5 told us he uses a lot of effects pedals on stage and is influenced by guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more. We had the chance to chat with him before his show about what it was like joining Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie on their tours.
What can we learn from this?
- Shows at the other venue have been postponed for two weeks. 2. John 5 is playing his first ever show in Canada on this tour. 3. This show is a part of John 5’s The Devil Knows My Name tour with Billy Sheehan and Eric Singer, featuring songs from his solo albums plus classics by The Misfits, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie and more.
