Trivium Blasts Off at the Budweiser Stage
Last night, Canadian metal titans Trivium blazed off at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto for a two-hour set that featured such highlights as Strife, Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr, In Waves, and a guest appearance by Ripper Owens (ex-Judas Priest) on the encore track Raining Blood. It was an incredible show that almost defied belief.
Their performance
I have seen a lot of live music in my life, but nothing like this. I had never heard of Trivium before and was not sure what to expect. As soon as they started playing, the room was completely captivated by their sound. It was heavy enough for any metal fan to enjoy, but also had a beautiful melody that made it accessible to someone who doesn’t usually listen to rock or metal. The lead singer’s voice reached so many different notes and his screams were intense without being painful.
Their attitude
Playing in Toronto for the first time in five years, Trivium was able to give their hometown crowd a show they would never forget. The band played for over an hour, performing songs from all six of their albums.

The audience was a mix of metal-heads and casual concert goers, and they were all completely immersed in Trivium’s performance. The band seemed to feed off of this as they played their most well-known songs like Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr with an intensity that no other opening band could match.
The venue
The Budweiser stage is an outdoor venue located in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood. The size of the venue was perfect, and it had a great view of the city with lots of seating available. There was also ample food and drink options if you were hungry or thirsty during the show. The only downside to this location was that it is not as well known as other concert venues, so there weren’t many people around for our show.
