Beartooth have announced their sixth studio album Pure Ecstasy, set for release on August 28 via Fearless Records. The record marks the band’s first release with the label and follows the momentum of 2023’s The Surface, which pushed them further into the mainstream with chart-topping success and multiple rock radio hits.
Alongside the album announcement, Beartooth have released the title track, opening the record with a heavy, unfiltered statement of intent. Frontman Caleb Shomo describes it as a track that had to “lock in the vibe out of the gate,” built from sessions that leaned into massive sound and raw intensity before being shaped further in collaboration with Jordan Fish.
The new song sets the tone for Pure Ecstasy, an 11-track record that explores extremes of emotion, self-reflection, and personal reckoning. Shomo has said the project reflects a more honest and vulnerable space than ever before, with collaboration playing a larger role throughout the writing and recording process. Longtime members of the live band also contributed more directly in the studio, adding to the shift in how the album came together.
Early single “Free” introduced this era earlier in the year, while the new title track pushes further into heavier territory, pairing aggressive energy with direct, confessional lyrics built around lines like “let the words come out of me, pure ecstasy.”
Fan reaction to the release has been immediate and intense. Listeners have pointed to the song’s heaviness and emotional delivery, with one fan writing, “That line ‘cause it’s eating me alive’ gave me chills.” Others praised the return to a more aggressive sound, calling it a throwback to earlier eras while still feeling new. Another comment summed up the response simply: “This song rips.”
Pure Ecstasy continues Beartooth’s evolution from a basement project into one of modern heavy music’s most consistent forces, with over a billion streams and a history of turning personal struggle into anthems that connect with a global audience.
The album’s tracklist includes songs such as “Eyes Closed,” “Beautiful Again,” “Free,” and “For Me By Me,” alongside the opening title track.
Pure Ecstasy is out August 28 via Fearless Records.
