Black Star Riders performed at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario. The following is a review of the concert.
The band was excellent, playing a mix of their own material as well as songs from their previous incarnation as Thin Lizzy. Vocalist/guitarist Ricky Warwick was in fine form, leading the band through a set that included such classics as “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Jailbreak”, and “Whiskey In The Jar”. The rest of the band – Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Robbie Crane, and Chad Szeliga – were all in top form as well, providing tight musicianship and plenty of energy.
The venue itself is a large arena that was about half-full for the show. The sound was good throughout, although there were some issues with the monitors on stage that caused a few problems early on. However, these were quickly sorted out and didn’t affect the overall quality of the show.
The crowd was enthusiastic and sang along to many of the songs. There was a good mix of ages present, with many die-hard Thin Lizzy fans in attendance. All in all, it was a great show and Black Star Riders put on an excellent performance.
