The Darkness @ Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto

The Darkness Brings High-Octane Rock to the Phoenix Concert Theatre

Introduction

The Darkness is a band that brings a lot of energy to the stage, and this show was no exception. They played “Get Your Hands Off My Woman”, which is a song by the band they formed before The Darkness, called Empire. It’s been nearly fifteen years since their breakout hit, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”. They played “Living Each Day Blind”, which sounds like a much happier version of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

The Darkness is a British rock band that has been around since 2003. They are known for their energetic live shows, and this show was no exception. The band performed with energy and enthusiasm, which made the audience feel like they were part of an event rather than just watching a concert.

With five albums under their belt, The Darkness has released everything from pop-rock to heavy metal to disco music, each unique in its own way. In 2008 they released their second album One Way Ticket To Hell…And Back which propelled them into mainstream success with hits such as “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” and “Growing On Me”. Their latest album Old Dog was released last year with singles including “All The Pretty Girls” and “Howling At The Moon” that have helped keep them going strong into 2019!

It’s been nearly fifteen years since their breakout hit, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”.

It’s been nearly fifteen years since their breakout hit, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.” The Darkness was formed in 2000 and released their first album, Permission to Land, in 2003. It was a success and the single “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” became a smash hit around the world. After two more albums The Darkness broke up in 2008 but reunited at Coachella Festival 2013 with Justin Hawkins as lead vocalist and Dan Hawkins on guitar.

The band has been touring extensively since then with Justin Hawkins continuing his hard partying ways along with other members of The Darkness both onstage and offstage during concerts worldwide.

They played “Get Your Hands Off My Woman”, which is a song by the band they formed before The Darkness, called Empire.

You might think that The Darkness would be the same song as Empire, but you’d be wrong. Empire is a song by The Darkness, who formed in 2000 and have since become one of the biggest bands in rock history. Their first album was called Permission To Land; it was released on May 20th, 2003. One Way Ticket To Hell… And Back was their second album, released on September 23rd, 2005. Both albums are great!

The band played a bunch of other songs during their concert at Phoenix Concert Theatre: “Every Inch Of You”, “Growing On Me”, “One Way Ticket (To Hell)”. They also played some songs from their upcoming new album titled Pinewood Smile (the title comes from an old rehearsal space they had).

They played “Living Each Day Blind”, which sounds like a much happier version of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

The Darkness’ song is about how you should not let the bad things that can happen stop you from enjoying your life.

Justin Hawkins said that he cannot buy another black suit because “there are only so many black suits you can own in your life, you know”.

Justin Hawkins said that he cannot buy another black suit because “there are only so many black suits you can own in your life, you know”.

This is a valid point. However, the main reason why Mr. Hawkins does not want to buy any more black suits is because he wants to look good for his fans and himself. The Darkness have always been known for their elaborate stage presence and wardrobe choices which include many layers of leather, studs and chains; they look like rock stars! This means that every time they go on tour they need new clothes because they wear them out while performing every night; it’s only natural!

The next song was “Friday Night”, and Hawkins said it’s about how you feel when you get out of work at the end of the week.

The next song was “Friday Night”, and Hawkins said it’s about how you feel when you get out of work at the end of the week.

“You wanna go out, but you’re tired,” he said. “But then you think, ‘We could just stay in tonight…or we can go out and have fun.'”

Hawkins continued: “It’s like that feeling where after a long day at work or school, if someone says ‘Hey let’s get drinks,’ or ‘Let’s hang out,’ or anything like that, your initial reaction is ‘No.’ Then there comes this point where you say ‘I’m gonna [say yes], because I just want to keep going.’ And I think that’s true for most people.”

Then they picked up the tempo again with “One Way Ticket”.

The second track, “One Way Ticket”, has a fast tempo and was the perfect song to get the crowd going. The song is about a guy who has given up on doing things right, and is ready to experience life, even if that means making some mistakes along the way. It’s a fun song to sing along with, especially when they played it live at Phoenix Concert Theatre!

When I heard that they were playing “The Beginning”, I knew right away what it would sound like: dark and heavy. And that’s exactly what happened when they finally played this track after all their hype tracks were over with—it sounded amazing!

They went back to their debut album to play “Love Is Only A Feeling”, then Frank switched to bass for “Concrete”.

He uses a Fender Jazz, which is a bass guitar with an eye-catching shape and a sound that’s perfect for ska. Frank plays it through an old Fender Bassman amplifier, which adds to the jangly sound of their music.

Next was another Empire song, called “Killer Man”, then Dan switched to bass for a cover of Iron Maiden’s “Wasted Years”.

Dan Hawkins is the lead singer and guitarist of Empire, who released their second album in 2018. Their first album was released in 2016.

They kept the Iron Maiden theme going by playing their own song called “Givin’ Up”, which features lyrics from “The Number Of The Beast” (specifically, the chorus and bridge).

The Darkness is a band that has been going strong since 2003 and they are still blowing away fans with their music. They have released four albums over the years and have grown in popularity with each one. Their most recent album came out in 2015, titled Last Of Our Kind. The title track from this album was on the soundtrack for Suicide Squad, so that could bring some new people into their world of heavy metal rock n roll goodness!

In addition to playing all of their own songs (which everyone is obviously there to hear), they also took time to cover some classics like “Run To The Hills” by Iron Maiden and “The Number Of The Beast” by Iron Maiden (specifically, the chorus and bridge). It was impressive how well these covers sounded coming out of singer Justin Hawkins’ mouth—this guy has a great voice! In fact he sounds almost exactly like Bruce Dickinson did when he recorded those classic songs back in the day–it’s uncanny how similar they sound!

Conclusion

We had a great time at The Darkness concert, and we’re looking forward to seeing them in other cities!
