Concert Review: Halestorm and I Prevail Light Up Toronto

July 18, 2024, at Budweiser Stage, Toronto – Summer 2024 North American Tour

The Budweiser Stage was the place to be on July 18, 2024, as Halestorm and I Prevail delivered an epic night of music. Despite some unexpected delays due to the nearby Honda Indy, the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd were noticeable.

With 9000 tickets sold, the venue was packed, and the night kicked off with metalcore powerhouses Fit For A King and Hollywood Undead. Although traffic woes meant I missed these two bands, the buzz in the crowd indicated they put on stellar performances.

As I finally made my way through the Orange Detour signs and heavy traffic, I arrived just in time to catch I Prevail. Their stage setup was a spectacle, featuring large LED screens and multiple high platforms that allowed for dynamic visuals and plenty of movement. The band’s performance was a whirlwind of energy, with Eric Vanlerberghe’s shout-out to the lawn mosh pit and the crowd raising their hands in defiance during “Choke.”

The band’s setlist was a perfect mix of heavy hitters and fan favorites, including “Self-Destruction,” “Blank Space” (yes, the Taylor Swift cover), and “Gasoline.” The mosh pits, fist pumps, and crowd jumps made it clear that I Prevail knows how to rile up a crowd. However, it was noticeable that some fans left after I Prevail’s set, missing out on the powerhouse performance that was yet to come.

Halestorm took the stage at 9:40 PM, and any doubts about staying were quickly dispelled. The stage, with its vivid lighting and fabric curtain backdrop bearing Halestorm’s logo, set the tone for a visually and musically immersive experience. Arejay Hale’s purple suit and green hair, matching his drum set, added a vibrant flair. His drum solo, featuring giant drumsticks, sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The band’s setlist was a journey through their hits, with standout moments like “I Miss the Misery,” “Freak Like Me,” and the emotionally charged “Familiar Taste of Poison,” where Lzzy Hale handed out roses to the crowd. Joe Hottinger’s epic solo during this song was a highlight, and Lzzy’s charisma shone throughout the performance. Her duet with Eric Vanlerberghe on “Can You See Me in the Dark?” was a special treat for the fans who stayed.

Halestorm’s ability to connect with the audience was evident, from Lzzy’s powerful vocals to Arejay’s showmanship. The band members were spread out across the stage, creating an engaging and energetic atmosphere. The combination of familiar favorites and new tracks kept the audience enthralled until the very end.

In conclusion, despite the traffic hiccups and some fans leaving early, the Halestorm and I Prevail concert at Budweiser Stage was a night to remember. Both bands delivered high-energy performances that showcased their unique styles and undeniable talent. If you missed it, you truly missed out on an unforgettable night of rock and metal.

Until next time, rock on!

Thank you so much, Taylor Palmby from atomspliiterpr for the accreditation.
