Disturbed Brings the Chaos to Toronto

Hard rock band Disturbed, who have been around since the early 2000s, brought their Music as a Weapon VI tour to Toronto on March 22nd at Scotiabank Arena. The show was so intense and so loud that it may have blown out some of the arena’s sound equipment as well as many concert goers’ eardrums. While many fans enjoyed the concert, others left in frustration due to having difficulty hearing the lyrics being sung and being overwhelmed by the volume of the music and the visuals on stage.

The history
The band, which is comprised of vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist John Moyer, started playing together in 1996. They had a modest following until 2000 when they released their debut album The Sickness and went on tour with Ozzfest. The first single on the album was Down with the Sickness which became a hit song and helped send them into stardom.

The vibe
Toronto was in for a night of anarchy when Disturbed took the stage at Scotiabank Arena. The band had been on hiatus for five years but certainly didn’t seem rusty at all. They opened with The Night, then went straight into Prayer. This band has always been one of the most intense bands I’ve seen, and they were really working it tonight.

Favorite songs played
The title track off of their latest album, Evolution was one of my personal favorites. I think that it really showcases Disturbed’s growth and creativity over their last few albums. It has a haunting sound to it, but at the same time, it was full of powerful beats and catchy lyrics. The opening track off of their new album, Are You Ready? also made an appearance in their set list and it was absolutely amazing!
